New Year's Resolutions: 3.0

Another year has come around already: I say 'already' but I feel like 2017 has dragged a little bit. All of the timings are weird in my mind. Christmas 2016 feels like last month but my birthday (in April) feels like it was ages ago. Even though my distorted view of the year may say otherwise, it's almost over, so I thought it was only right to do my annual resolution's post. First off, I'll recap last year's...

-Get better at intros: To be honest, I think that this was achieved. The types of posts that I was writing really changed in summer, so it meant that intoductions were a lot easier. Before, it felt like the start of all of my posts were irrelevant (I accidentally typed that in caps, which was very appropriate!) filler before the actual main points. Now I think that everything flows quite coherently, and I hope that you'd agree.  

-Do pilates: This is something else that I can partially tick off of my list! Although I started strong, I kept getting ill so took some big breaks in between things. I have anemia and a really weak immune systems, so even a cold can knock everything out of me. I do, however, really love to excersise because it puts me in such a good mood. As I learnt from 'Legally Blonde', the endorphins that you get from it are meant to make you feel happy; I think I can back that up. As well as all of this, it makes me feel so much more confident in myself so this is something that I really want to keep up in 2018. 

-Take more photographs: In the post, I said that I wanted to take and edit more photos to use on my Instagram (@words_with_el), which I definitely have done. This years top 9 are all photos that I took myself, but they have kind of made me want to get my old theme back! Aside from that, I've also taken more photos of my life off screen. This year I got a disposable camera to use over summer and- even though some of the photos wouldn't fully develop- I did enjoy using it. For Christmas, I got also got a Polaroid camera, so I'm going to enjoy taking pictures with that.

-Keep up my bullet journal: This is the first diary that I have ever maintained in my life. I think the reason that it's worked is because it's not the kind that I write about my day, feelings, etc, in. Instead, I make lists of relevant things to do and just fill in charts about how I'm feeling which is so much faster! I'm so glad that I did keep it up, because it's going to be so great to start comparing what I did on a date in 2017 to what I'm doing on that date in 2018. Here's to another year!

So, out of those four, I think I get a strong three and a half! That's quite a good track record... I'm feeling pretty proud! I'm hoping that I can keep as many of these one's throughout 2018...

-Be happier: I let a lot of external things effect my mood. Something little will go wrong, and then I'll internalise it and make it in to a huge thing: when in reality, it was hardly a problem in the first place. I think that in 2018, I need to work more on pulling my happiness from a place inside, rather than relying on it coming from outside. I really like dodie (who's a youtube singer) and in her song 'Burned Out' she kind of touches upon that idea, saying that no matter how much other people love you, you're only ever truly content when you love yourself. That's where I want to be by the end of 2018.  

-Practice more: The four things that this applies to are singing, dance, ukulele and piano. I'm doing Grade 7 LCM musical theatre in April, which is basically a qualification in singing. There are only eight grades, so I know that this one will be very difficult. I sing all the time (my sister gets so annoyed when my belting wakes her up in the morning!) but I need to start devoting time specifically to technique and less just singing along to soundtracks. Dance is something that I talk about all the time, so I really don't feel the need to delve into detail now. So- in brief- I want to get better at it, because it's one of my biggest passions! The last two are both instruments, but I promise I'm not a prodigy! I've been playing the ukulele for threeish years now, but it's always in bursts, never consistently, so I want to start playing regularly. Finally, I bought a piano last year, but never play it (I don't really know how to!) so that's something that I want to master this year! 

- Get taller: So I can't really control this one, but a girl can dream! I'm currently 5'5 and three quarters (which I usually just shorten to 5'6 for convenience) but the dream is 5'8! I have no idea why those extra two inches *and a quarter* have always been so appealing; it's always just been my height destination. Maybe if I eat all of the vegetables on the planet and drink milk I'll reach it. Saying that though, glasses of milk repulse me. I don't understand people who can just chug milk, why would you do that to yourself?  

-Eat healthier: The idea of clean eating has always intrigued me. To be honest, I almost went vegan last year, then I realised that one of the main reasons I would be doing it was for the humble brag Instagram bio! Also, I like meat a lot, so the vegan way of living could never be justified for me. On the other hand, Cassey Ho is such a huge inspiration to me, and she always encourages clean eating. Basically, that just means cutting all processed foods out of your diet. Honestly, I don't see me ever attaining that either, because I'm such a picky eater, I would legitimately end up eating nothing. Saying that, I would like to cut back on the amount of junk I eat so maybe this will be the year for that!

And that's the end of this post. I haven't really done a closing statement in a while, so this is all knew to me! I hope that you have a good new years eve and that 2018 is so much better than 2017! xox

What you Need For Back to School...

It's already this time of year again; obviously I'm thrilled. Of course this is the best part of summer with the perpetual worrying about getting the 'wrong' thing and all of the consideration you have to put into making sure your bag won't clash with your face.
